Get to know your Soda Maker

Storage, Safety & Compatibility

I own an older SodaStream sparkling water maker, can I use your current bottles, gas cylinders and flavours with my model?

That depends on the machine you own, it's best to contact our sparkle support team on 0800 232 633 for further details and to double check that your gas cylinder is compatible.

Something isn’t Working

There are small pieces of ice that appear in my water after carbonation. What’s up with that?

This is totally normal and safe, so don't worry. If this happens, simply shorten the duration of each press until the ice stops appearing or it can affect the carbonation. Any ice will simply melt and make your drink even more cold and refreshing!

I have blinking LEDs on my Power sparkling water maker. Help!

Disconnect the adapter and wait for ~30 seconds. Then plug into a working electrical socket. If you still have trouble with the LEDs, please contact our Sparkle Support Team.

I’m pressing the carbonating button, but nothing is happening. Help!

Bubble Bummer! Let's get this figured out. Try these troubleshooting tips first:

  1. Tighten the gas cylinder into place to verify that it is full (pro-tip: you can use a kitchen scale to weigh your cylinder, if it's under 0.76 Kg then you ran out of gas!)
  2. If your sparkling water maker requires electricity, make sure it's plugged in to a working electrical socket.
  3. Only use your sparkling water maker in an upright position.

I made sparkling water and the water overflowed. Why did that happen?

Bubbles overboard! Sorry that happened, but let's figure out the best way to avoid it in the future.

  1. Always make sure your carbonating bottle is filled just to the ""Fill Line"" indicator.
  2. Never carbonate anything other than fresh, cold water.
  3. Double check that you installed the gas cylinder correctly. Heads up: when installed correctly, there is a small gap between the bottom of the carbonating bottle and the base of the sparkling water maker.
  4. Never add flavours to the water before carbonating.
  5. Carbonate using firm, short bursts (2 seconds each). Note: the Source™ sparkling water maker works best with firm 1 second pushes.

How do I know if my gas cylinder is empty?

There are a number of ways to tell when your gas cylinder is empty:

  1. When you press the carbonating button you don't see any gas going into your bottle of water
  2. Even after repeated presses your water is not carbonated
  3. You hear a spluttering sound when you attempt carbonation

Pro-tip: SodaStream recommends keeping a back up gas cylinder handy so that when one cylinder runs out, you simply swap the empty cylinder for a full one. That way, you'll keep enjoying fresh, sparkling water based drinks without interruption and can exchange the empty gas cylinder online through sodastream.co.nz or in a store near you.

Other FAQ

How do I clean my sparkling water maker?

Taking care of your sparkling water maker is super easy. Clean with a soft, damp cloth in lukewarm water. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or sharp tools to clean. Wipe spills to keep base dry. NEVER submerge in water or wash in a dishwasher.

Can I carbonate anything other than water?

No. Only water should be carbonated in the SodaStream Sparkling Water Maker. You risk damaging your Sparkling Water Maker, not to mention making a big fizzy mess! The money-back guarantee and the warranty are both invalidated if you carbonate any liquid other than water in your Sparkling Water Maker. Stick with plain, cold water and adding any one of our fantastic flavours - AFTER the water has been carbonated!
